Monaco France? While Monaco is not apart of France it is located inside France, making it a perfect stop on any French Riviera itinerary. Monaco is the epitome of luxury with its world-class dining and shopping, world-famous casino, yachts galore, and the Grand Prix Race.

When to visit, what to see and do, where to stay and where to eat are all the things I cover in my travel guide below.

When to Visit

With temperatures staying mild year-round, highs 54-80 degrees, anytime can be a great time to visit. The best time however is the summer and fall month which has the highest temperatures, take a look at the average temps below. The Grand Prix happens in May and while it would be a once in a lifetime experience to visiting during this time it will also be the most expensive time to visit.

Things To Do and See

  • Grand Prix
    • Occurs in May. In 2019 it was May 26, canceled for 2020 and scheduled for May 20-23, 2021.
  • Casino Monte Carlo
    • Free to enter the atrium.
    • No fee to play the slots
    • 17€ fee to play table games and appropriate dress is required.
    • Tickets for audio tours at 17€ per person. Entrance from 10am-1pm, last entrance at 12:15pm.
  • Wander around the old town.
  • Prince’s Palace
    • The changing of the guard happens at 11:55 am.
  • Monaco Cathedral
    • Resting place of Grace Kelly.
  • Oceanographic Museum
    • Tickets starting at 11- 16€, depending on the season.
    • Jan/Feb/March/Oct/Nov/Dec: 10am-6pm
    • April/May/June/Sept: 10am-7pm
    • July and Aug: 9:30am-8pm

    • Beautiful cactus garden with breathtaking views

  • Shopping
    • High -end shopping is in the Monte Carlo area around the Casino.
